Leslie - Corsetry and Marketing Assistant
Leslie grew up watching her Mother sew; as such fashion and sewing have always been a central part of her life. She grew up watching and learning from her Mother who could artfully sew everything from casual everyday clothing to bridesmaid’s dresses, decorative curtains, cushions, and other home decor items. Later she further developed her skills through classes at secondary school and university. Sewing and fashion design have been an essential creative outlet as well as a valued asset. Leslie is very versatile, for example while at university, she was invited to a dance at the last minute and was able to create an evening dress for the event that same day!
Later, when she was a stay-at-home mother, she created a small line of loungewear, which sold successfully in Los Angeles for a number of years.
For Leslie, style has always been a focus. Films of the 1930’s, 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s were always on the television in her home growing up; this strongly influenced her personal style and made a lasting impression on her. Vintage clothing and theatrical costumes continue to be a passion, which served her well when she studied ballet and modern dance as a teenager and young adult. Since then dance and costume design have gone hand in hand in her life. This has grown to include circus arts (aerial silks) and burlesque. More recently, she has created costumes for ballet productions as well as commissions of original burlesque costumes. Being a dancer herself, she has a good understanding of what performers need from their garments.
Leslie is very much looking forward to working with you and creating beautiful corsets for your boudoir, burlesque and beyond!
